What can I expect during a pelvic health physical therapy treatment session?

We treat what we find! We work on the same things other physical therapists do but with a focus on the pelvis and surrounding areas. Sometimes it is addressing your breathing pattern and learning improved mechanics of the diaphragm, pelvic floor, and ribs. Other times we work on strengthening the pelvic floor, core, hips, and surrounding areas. Sometimes, simply learning how to relax your pelvic floor can alleviate pain. This can be done through breathing techniques, stretching, and education on ergonomics. We also may do internal work to address tight pelvic floor muscles or to teach improved pelvic floor recruitment (again we will NOT do this if you are opposed or if internal work is contraindicated). We may teach you how to use dilators or a pelvic wand if that is beneficial. We will ALWAYS educate on how to improve your condition with simple day-to-day changes that help make a difference. These are just a few examples of the services we offer. Do not hesitate to call if you have more questions!

How do we track your progress?

We define patient-centered goals as what you hope to accomplish from physical therapy. While these are typically activity-specific goals, often patients report they just wish to experience less pain.
